It's true my views have changed since my own personal battle with breast cancer - but the fact remains I have battled with weight issues my entire life. My love affair with food began in child hood and has continued through into my adult life. When I was younger my concern was not with staying fit - it was with being "slim!" The goal was to look your best - so you could attract someone to "love" you. We were all looking for love - but definitely looking in all the wrong places!
Why Lose Weight or even be concerned with how much body fat we carry around?
I'm so glad you asked!
One very significant reason in today's economical situation we literally cannot afford the cost of NOT taking care of our bodies. The loss of those few extra pounds to ... many extra pounds can help to prevent the following diseases:
* Heart disease and stroke.
* High blood pressure.
* Diabetes.
* Cancer.
* Gallbladder disease and gallstones.
* Osteoarthritis.
* Gout.
* Breathing problems, such as sleep apnea* and asthma.
(*when a person stops breathing for a short time during sleep)
Diet - does not mean DIE nor should you feel like you are killing yourself to get there. The goal is GOOD HEALTH! Repeat after me... the goal is GOOD HEALTH. When the physical manifestion of our being < aka the body> has what it needs to succeed we automatically look and feel good.
When we meet the bodies nutritional needs, except in rare cases, our bodies automatically look good & feel great. When we have basic dietary needs - we also have higher levels of energy to enjoy the physical activities of living.
